We recently had the immense privilege of stepping back in time and coming together as a community to commemorate VE Day here at The Black Horse in Moreton Morrell. It was a truly special occasion, as we honoured the bravery and sacrifice of a generation, while celebrating the peace and freedom they secured.
Our pub was adorned with flags and decorations, creating a wonderfully nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of 1945. Guests enjoyed classic British fare, raised a toast with local ales, 1940’s style food whilst sharing stories, laughter, and poignant reflections. The air was filled with a spirit of gratitude and camaraderie, as neighbours and friends, old and new, united to remember this pivotal moment in history.

It was heartening to see so many families join us, ensuring that the stories and significance of VE Day are passed down through generations. From the lively chatter to moments of quiet reflection, the day was a beautiful blend of honouring the past and cherishing the present.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us to make our VE Day celebration so meaningful. Your presence truly made it an unforgettable day of community spirit and respectful remembrance. We’re proud to be a place where history can be honoured and shared, and we look forward to many more opportunities to come together at The Black Horse.
